The Boyfriend Jean

Tonight TT and I went out and with all my brothers for Thai food.  Mmmm... for those of you in the fab city of Salt Lake, Thai Siam on State is where the good food is.  It's delish.  So fun.  Anyway, this outfit was majorly inspired by the Elaine at clothedmuch, she did a better rendition of this outfit.  But, what I LOVE about this piece, is the feeling I got by creating a NEW outfit, out of not new clothes. And it really is snowing in these pictures!

What I'm Wearing:
Coat: random find 2 yrs ago, at the Great Garb
White T: Victoria's Secret
Belt: TT's, brought home from his mission in Honduras.  *It's Iguana skin, eeek!*
Jeans: True Religion (super baggy and super old, and therefore converted to "a boyfriend jean")

I feel like a ginormous weight was lifted from my shoulders today after going through all of my clothes.  Yes, I purged my closet.  I filled up 3 very heavy and very bulging garbage bags.  It felt so good.  Thank you so much Elaine for all your help and input!  So much appreciated.

Also, thanks to Gizelle for the blog award! She's given me the happy 101 blog award!  So, here are 10 things that make me happy.  NO particular order:
1. the Book of Mormon
2. knowing i had a good workout

3. spending time with TT
4. an ice cold Diet Coke with little tiny ice cubes

5. being with my family
6. taking pictures, making memories
7.  new mascara
8. disneyland
9. a defeated laundry pile
10. completing homework

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Caught in an alley way

This morning before work, my mom and I had a little play date.  We went and met with my wedding photographer to get images and choose an album.  Note to future brides: wedding stuff doesn't end once you're back from your honeymoon (there's thank you cards, which of course are important, returning 5 toasters and 8 spice racks, organizing all your new stuff, and almost six months later, i'm revisiting all my wedding proofs to make an album).  Don't get me wrong, it's great.  Anyway we went downtown to meet with him, got diet cokes, and walked in and out of stores talking talking talking.

What I'm wearing:
Jacket: TopShop (got it in London on study abroad)
Striped T: Juicy
Shoes: Nordstrom, and so worn I can't see the maker any longer

We have a family picture on Sunday.  I'm really not sure what to wear. It will be after church, so mostly everyone will be dressed up!

Should I dress more classy in black? Or should I do a fun springy look?  What would you wear?

It Doesn't Matter That I'm Black And White

Please excuse my hair.  I didn't anticipate the mini wind storm we encountered on our way home from school.  It's actually a good reminder that it's really time for a new hair style.  Really.  Please SOMEONE tell me what it needs.  What hair products do you swear by?

What I'm wearing:
Shoes:BCBG
Pants: Black Denim by Suzy
Shirt: Gap (special from New York)
Scarf: Nordstrom
Watch: gifted from My Dad

You can't really see the detail in the shirt, but it's why I love this shirt.  If you look closely to the left of the scarf you'll see it!  I had the perfect coat on with it, but unfortunately, didn't snag a picture with it.  Okay I lied.  I did get a picture of it, but it definitely didn't turn out. Maybe next time.

Sundance Film Festival started today! I live thirty minutes away from it, and I really want to go!  Maybe I'll see a celeb or two.  I mean, it's not like I would really care if I saw one anyways... :)

It's Yellow Time

This is my front door.  This is also my necklace.  They match.

What I'm wearing:
Jeans: Seven For All Mankind high wasted
Shirt: Anthropologie
Sweater: Zara
Necklace: Anthropologie (wore this in my engagement photo, precious)
Coat: Gap
Shoes: Jessica Simpson

Hope you're having a wonderful mid-week Wednesday!  This morning I went for a run, and did two loads of laundry.  All before school.  I just need everyone to know this because that was an accomplishment!  Do you have tips for me on how to keep laundry pile down?  Sometimes it gets so high it scares me. Plus do you iron your clothes?  I've been ironing for quite sometime now, and I'm still not good at it! In fact, I'm bad at it.

Tastes like Chicken

One of my goals is to cook twice a week.  But tonight while I was cooking I realized why this is so much harder than it sounds.  If it were just cooking, that'd be fine.  But it's going to the grocery store (or in tonight's case my parents house), then cooking, which is totally fine, then cleaning up the tornado that at some point took the kitchen by complete surprise.  So when homework, laundry and maybe a workout are on the agenda for the night along with cooking, it gets a little harder to simply "cook".  Nonetheless I love to cook. I said cook a lot.

TONIGHTS MEAL: breaded chicken with baked potato and veggies

  Ingredients:
two chicken breasts
one box stove top stuffing
one can chicken broth (low sodium, it's good for something)
one egg

Simple directions:
Pound the chicken breast in a baggie. Take the whites of one egg and drizzle it over the chicken on both sides. Put the Stove Top bread crumbs (what would be stuffing) in a bag and crush them into little bits. Yes, little bits.  Roll the chicken in the bits.  Place a frying pan on the stove, and put some butter in the pan.  Turn it on medium.  Transfer the chicken to the pan.  Slowly add the chicken broth, and the remaining Stove Top.  Cover the chicken with a lid.  I'm not sure why, I just know that helps it cook.  If you don't have a lid for your frying pan do what I did, and find another lid.  It still works.  Call your mom and thank her for the chicken breasts, and the baked potatoes.

Then, grab whatever veggies you have.  I had carrots and asparagus.  Yum!  Steam them, or grill them to perfection. Put the already baked potatoes in the microwave to warm them up.  And this is what I ended up with:

There you have it.  Nothin' special. And nothing too pretty, hence the sodas.  But that's what you get when you're just trying to make dinner for the hubs along with homework, laundry and a few other things!  The chicken by the way was delish, you guys should try it. It's fast, easy, and healthy!

There you have it! A quick, easy, DOABLE, recipe!
Way better than our usual fast food.

Hubs should probably do the dishes right?  Thanks for reading fresh!

Up against a rock wall

Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday! It was nice not to have school today, and just work!  TT and I slept in a little more than planned, which is always nice (but sometimes frustrating).  After work, we met up with my parents for dinner.  Mexican. What can I say, the love for Mexican food runs in the family.

What I'm wearing:
White T: American Eagle
Blazer: Banana Republic, 3 yrs old
Pants: Cimarron, I found these down a little street in Paris while on study abroad.
Shoes: Steve Madden? not sure

I like this blazer but sometimes feels it doesn't fit the way it should.  Like it's a little too roomy, but the next size down wouldn't have fit any better.  Would you have added accessories to this outfit? I couldn't decide, so I just left it the way it is.

Hope everybody had a great day!!

One top, Two days

Weekend recap: definitely a super fun weekend!  I loved it.  Saturday was busy busy.  Some of the highlights included lots of family time, playing games, eating out, celebrating birthdays, going out on my first blind double date, and taking lots of pictures!

Saturday night, TT and I went on our first blind double date.  When I told him we were going out he said, "I thought I was done with blind dates after I got married."  Ha, well little did he know.  We met up with Elaine from clothedmuch and her husband for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.   I have to say she's just as funny, genuine, and petite in person!  We stayed for three hours at the restaurant talking, laughing, and of course eating.

I'll admit I was a little nervous to meet her, but it couldn't have been more fun!  I got the chance to ask her a few questions that I'll be sharing with the rest of you shortly in my very first blogger spotlight!
Sunday's outfit:

Okay, well obviously these jeans are much to long for flats.  But Sunday calls for comfort, right?
grey sweatshirt/shirt: Gap (new as of Saturday)
Scarf: gifted
Watch: gifted from Dad
Jeans: Seven For All Mankind
Flats: gifted from TT

I wore this same outfit last night (I'm just being honest), when we were out on our blind double date last night but with black jeans instead of classic denim.
Saturday's outfit:

Thanks so much to Elaine and her husband for meeting up with us.  We had a fabulous time! Stay tuned for the inside scoop on clothedmuch! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Oh, and since I totally admitted I wore the same top twice, do you like it better with black or denim?
