The Jazz Kitchen

So our first night at Disney we ate at this fabulous restaurant called the Jazz Kitchen.  It serves incredible Southern food inside a beautiful Southern-Like mansion.  We ate so many good dishes, and my favorite may have been the dish called "dirty rice".  Yum! Ever had it? It was so fun reading what all of you guys love about Disneyland, and what makes you happy! Thanks for sharing!  We truly had such a great time, and it was so wonderful to be with the family on a quick trip.  TT hadn't been to Disneyland since he was four years old, and the best part was possibly seeing him soak up the Disney spirit.  Cheesy? Not at all, it's real!
What I'm wearing:
Belt: from TT's collection of belts I've recently discovered and will wear
TT and Me enjoying the weather  translation: shamelessly people watching

We walked so much I feared that my feet were going to fall off.  For those who love and cherish the rides at Disney like I do, thank you for letting me in on what you love about Disney!  Sometimes it's hard coming back from a trip and jumping back into your everyday school and work and taking care of business (everyday!!) agreed? I hope everyone has a great week!

Give me the skinny on them jeans

Feeling better today!  The nose dripping and eye watering has successfully moved over to the right eye/nostril.  Maybe tomorrow it will just move out all together?  I'm so excited... Disneyland tomorrow.  What ride to do first? More importantly, what food to eat first?  Mine may just have to be a giant pickle, and Indiana Jones, or Peter Pan, or Space Mountain, forget it I can't decide.   My mom has this awesome book called "How to Live Like A Lady" and it has the perfect packing list for a "Quick Weekend Getaway" which is exactly what this trip is.  Finally, some direction on how to pack!  Usually I can't decide and end up taking a ginorm bag for two nights and I hardly use anything in it!
What I'm wearing:
Skinnys: J Brand YAY!!!

I can already tell I'm going to wear and wear and wear these pants to their death.  I am in love with them.  They are the perfect mix between denim and leggings.  Which for me is more denim.  What's your favorite thing to do at Disneyland? Or do you hate Disneyland (is that even an option??) I want to know!

Problem.

I have a cold.  My left eye has successfully watered a gallon worth of tears all day, and my left nostril has been randomly dripping all day like someone is slightly turning on and off a faucet continuously.  This has been going on ALL day.  Tonight, after dinner, I asked sweet hubs take a picture of my outfit.  When I brought them up on the computer I wanted to cry. Did I really look like that all day?

My bangs were split right down the middle.
My white shirt had one sleeve rolled and the other sleeve wasn't. seriously
My left eye makeup was smeared beyond belief.
And can a cold make your thighs expand? bad news

So naturally, I said goodbye to those pictures.  Wish me luck tomorrow.
Oh, and found some skinny jeans today, don't know if I feel like wearing them though.
On a lighter note, the family is going to Disneyland this weekend!  Yay!
And this is me and hubs on our honeymoon.

Blacks+Grays=Comfort

You know those days where you want to be cute (like every day, duh) but you want to be comfortable? Do you know what I mean? Like no jeans digging into you (maybe that's just me), no scarf staring you back in the face, no high heels constantly reminding you you didn't cut your toe nails (too much information), etc?  This outfit was inspired to be one the exact opposite of one of those outfits.  And I loved it.
batman?i look like i'm about to take flight.

What I'm wearing:
Coat: North Face
T: Wal-Mart $4 booyah
Leggings: Juicy
Boots: London £3

OH, and yes, those are my roots. Take a good look.  And please enjoy them.
I really need NEED some skinnys because I want to be able to wear my boots with something other than these pants. Sometimes I'm a little self conscious they are too thin.
Thanks for reading Fresh!

Do you feel comfortable wearing leggings (like cotton leggings) as opposed to skinny jeans or something thicker?

High Wasted Glory

Look sketchy? Look cold?  It was both.  I have officially decided that Mondays are the long days this semester.  With school in the morning, then work through the afternoon, and back to school until late, today felt long.  I'm sure it could be worse.  It seriously hasn't been until just recently that I started wearing these jeans frequently, but now that I see them in these photos I'm ready to put them back at the bottom of the pile.  The wash on them is weird.  I'm over it.

What I'm Wearing:
Sweater: J. Crew -3 yrs old
Shoes: Jessica Simpson

Do you wear/like high wasted jeans?

Hope you all had a great Monday!  Thanks for reading Fresh!

Springy Sunday

Today was a big family day!  Sundays usually are around here.  We had our family picture and this is what I ended up wearing.  I woke up much later than expected, which sadly left me with zero time to curl my hair or take my sweet time getting ready.  I didn't even hear my alarm go off. I realize there is a lot going on with my outfit, but hey, welcome to the Spring Trends of 2010 baby, because florals and prints combined is one of them.

What I'm wearing:
Dress: Anthropologie (I love the 50's feel it has) $can't remember
Tights: Anthropologie $5

Were the tights and dress too much?  Would you have worn the dress differently? To be honest, I think I may have...

My mom snapped this of me, when TT and I were leaving.  This is what I usually look like.  Bags galore.  Always caring around a lot of STUFF.  But I need it all.

The Boyfriend Jean

Tonight TT and I went out and with all my brothers for Thai food.  Mmmm... for those of you in the fab city of Salt Lake, Thai Siam on State is where the good food is.  It's delish.  So fun.  Anyway, this outfit was majorly inspired by the Elaine at clothedmuch, she did a better rendition of this outfit.  But, what I LOVE about this piece, is the feeling I got by creating a NEW outfit, out of not new clothes. And it really is snowing in these pictures!

What I'm Wearing:
Coat: random find 2 yrs ago, at the Great Garb
White T: Victoria's Secret
Belt: TT's, brought home from his mission in Honduras.  *It's Iguana skin, eeek!*
Jeans: True Religion (super baggy and super old, and therefore converted to "a boyfriend jean")

I feel like a ginormous weight was lifted from my shoulders today after going through all of my clothes.  Yes, I purged my closet.  I filled up 3 very heavy and very bulging garbage bags.  It felt so good.  Thank you so much Elaine for all your help and input!  So much appreciated.

Also, thanks to Gizelle for the blog award! She's given me the happy 101 blog award!  So, here are 10 things that make me happy.  NO particular order:
1. the Book of Mormon
2. knowing i had a good workout

3. spending time with TT
4. an ice cold Diet Coke with little tiny ice cubes

5. being with my family
6. taking pictures, making memories
7.  new mascara
8. disneyland
9. a defeated laundry pile
10. completing homework

Have a WONDERFUL weekend!

Caught in an alley way

This morning before work, my mom and I had a little play date.  We went and met with my wedding photographer to get images and choose an album.  Note to future brides: wedding stuff doesn't end once you're back from your honeymoon (there's thank you cards, which of course are important, returning 5 toasters and 8 spice racks, organizing all your new stuff, and almost six months later, i'm revisiting all my wedding proofs to make an album).  Don't get me wrong, it's great.  Anyway we went downtown to meet with him, got diet cokes, and walked in and out of stores talking talking talking.

What I'm wearing:
Jacket: TopShop (got it in London on study abroad)
Striped T: Juicy
Shoes: Nordstrom, and so worn I can't see the maker any longer

We have a family picture on Sunday.  I'm really not sure what to wear. It will be after church, so mostly everyone will be dressed up!

Should I dress more classy in black? Or should I do a fun springy look?  What would you wear?

It Doesn't Matter That I'm Black And White

Please excuse my hair.  I didn't anticipate the mini wind storm we encountered on our way home from school.  It's actually a good reminder that it's really time for a new hair style.  Really.  Please SOMEONE tell me what it needs.  What hair products do you swear by?

What I'm wearing:
Shoes:BCBG
Pants: Black Denim by Suzy
Shirt: Gap (special from New York)
Scarf: Nordstrom
Watch: gifted from My Dad

You can't really see the detail in the shirt, but it's why I love this shirt.  If you look closely to the left of the scarf you'll see it!  I had the perfect coat on with it, but unfortunately, didn't snag a picture with it.  Okay I lied.  I did get a picture of it, but it definitely didn't turn out. Maybe next time.

Sundance Film Festival started today! I live thirty minutes away from it, and I really want to go!  Maybe I'll see a celeb or two.  I mean, it's not like I would really care if I saw one anyways... :)

It's Yellow Time

This is my front door.  This is also my necklace.  They match.

What I'm wearing:
Jeans: Seven For All Mankind high wasted
Shirt: Anthropologie
Sweater: Zara
Necklace: Anthropologie (wore this in my engagement photo, precious)
Coat: Gap
Shoes: Jessica Simpson

Hope you're having a wonderful mid-week Wednesday!  This morning I went for a run, and did two loads of laundry.  All before school.  I just need everyone to know this because that was an accomplishment!  Do you have tips for me on how to keep laundry pile down?  Sometimes it gets so high it scares me. Plus do you iron your clothes?  I've been ironing for quite sometime now, and I'm still not good at it! In fact, I'm bad at it.

Tastes like Chicken

One of my goals is to cook twice a week.  But tonight while I was cooking I realized why this is so much harder than it sounds.  If it were just cooking, that'd be fine.  But it's going to the grocery store (or in tonight's case my parents house), then cooking, which is totally fine, then cleaning up the tornado that at some point took the kitchen by complete surprise.  So when homework, laundry and maybe a workout are on the agenda for the night along with cooking, it gets a little harder to simply "cook".  Nonetheless I love to cook. I said cook a lot.

TONIGHTS MEAL: breaded chicken with baked potato and veggies

  Ingredients:
two chicken breasts
one box stove top stuffing
one can chicken broth (low sodium, it's good for something)
one egg

Simple directions:
Pound the chicken breast in a baggie. Take the whites of one egg and drizzle it over the chicken on both sides. Put the Stove Top bread crumbs (what would be stuffing) in a bag and crush them into little bits. Yes, little bits.  Roll the chicken in the bits.  Place a frying pan on the stove, and put some butter in the pan.  Turn it on medium.  Transfer the chicken to the pan.  Slowly add the chicken broth, and the remaining Stove Top.  Cover the chicken with a lid.  I'm not sure why, I just know that helps it cook.  If you don't have a lid for your frying pan do what I did, and find another lid.  It still works.  Call your mom and thank her for the chicken breasts, and the baked potatoes.

Then, grab whatever veggies you have.  I had carrots and asparagus.  Yum!  Steam them, or grill them to perfection. Put the already baked potatoes in the microwave to warm them up.  And this is what I ended up with:

There you have it.  Nothin' special. And nothing too pretty, hence the sodas.  But that's what you get when you're just trying to make dinner for the hubs along with homework, laundry and a few other things!  The chicken by the way was delish, you guys should try it. It's fast, easy, and healthy!

There you have it! A quick, easy, DOABLE, recipe!
Way better than our usual fast food.

Hubs should probably do the dishes right?  Thanks for reading fresh!

Up against a rock wall

Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday! It was nice not to have school today, and just work!  TT and I slept in a little more than planned, which is always nice (but sometimes frustrating).  After work, we met up with my parents for dinner.  Mexican. What can I say, the love for Mexican food runs in the family.

What I'm wearing:
White T: American Eagle
Blazer: Banana Republic, 3 yrs old
Pants: Cimarron, I found these down a little street in Paris while on study abroad.
Shoes: Steve Madden? not sure

I like this blazer but sometimes feels it doesn't fit the way it should.  Like it's a little too roomy, but the next size down wouldn't have fit any better.  Would you have added accessories to this outfit? I couldn't decide, so I just left it the way it is.

Hope everybody had a great day!!

One top, Two days

Weekend recap: definitely a super fun weekend!  I loved it.  Saturday was busy busy.  Some of the highlights included lots of family time, playing games, eating out, celebrating birthdays, going out on my first blind double date, and taking lots of pictures!

Saturday night, TT and I went on our first blind double date.  When I told him we were going out he said, "I thought I was done with blind dates after I got married."  Ha, well little did he know.  We met up with Elaine from clothedmuch and her husband for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants.   I have to say she's just as funny, genuine, and petite in person!  We stayed for three hours at the restaurant talking, laughing, and of course eating.

I'll admit I was a little nervous to meet her, but it couldn't have been more fun!  I got the chance to ask her a few questions that I'll be sharing with the rest of you shortly in my very first blogger spotlight!
Sunday's outfit:

Okay, well obviously these jeans are much to long for flats.  But Sunday calls for comfort, right?
grey sweatshirt/shirt: Gap (new as of Saturday)
Scarf: gifted
Watch: gifted from Dad
Jeans: Seven For All Mankind
Flats: gifted from TT

I wore this same outfit last night (I'm just being honest), when we were out on our blind double date last night but with black jeans instead of classic denim.
Saturday's outfit:

Thanks so much to Elaine and her husband for meeting up with us.  We had a fabulous time! Stay tuned for the inside scoop on clothedmuch! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Oh, and since I totally admitted I wore the same top twice, do you like it better with black or denim?

If You Mention It, They Will Come

So remember two posts ago when I asked for opinions regarding white jeans?  Well Miss Neira sent me an awesome link to some killer white jean/leggings she found (which I so appreciate and loved her pick), and my sister called me and said I could have HAVE her pair as she no longer wants them.  They're so cute though I could never allow myself to keep them for good, so I'm just going to borrow them... for a really long time.

What I'm wearing:
Orange Shirt: Anthropoglogie - unfortunately the beautiful detail is hidden under the sweater
Grey Sweater: Zara
White Jeans: Stitch - borrowed from my sis for an extended period of time.
Necklace: Nordstrom
Shoes: Skechers Soho (if you think that's strange, I do too)

the necklace means "long life"
So, yes or no to these white jeans? I think they have more potential than this.

Tonight after work TT and I met up with my older brother and his gf and the twins for dinner at an awesome local Japanese restaurant.  TT's brother works there and hooked us up with our own private set up away from all the crowded/loud tables.  Among everything else I ate we, I branched out and tried the Spider  Roll.  What's your favorite sushi roll? I'm ready to try new rolls, but I'm always hesitant to and instead stick with my favorite!

If you're ever in Utah, check this local favorite out! Oh, and I  made a small purchase today.  Can't wait to show you! Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!

Layer Town USA

 Layer 1
My wonderful dad gave me his four tickets to the Jazz game tonight, and what an awesome game to go to!  In case you're wondering they won by 1 point thanks to a buzzer beater!!  Great game.  On a more important note...
What I'm wearing:
1st Layer: G Star Raw black sweater
2nd Layer: G Star Raw black jacket
3rd Layer: Brown puff coat from Gap
------
Skinny Jeans: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Flats, gifted from TT
Graphic T: Ben Sherman, London

Layer 2

Layer 3
Looking at these pictures, I feel a little cheesy for all the smiles, however it was a fun night!  This is also the first time I've worn my hair half up, and for some reason I really just don't like the way it falls on me.  I guess my options are all up or all down.

I love my two G Star pieces, and I wanted to incorporate them a little differently than pictured here.  Any suggestions?  I'm thinking maybe dark jeans/leggings and boots? I don't know.

Hope everyone had a wonderful day!  Thank you for dropping by!!

Black To School

There is nothing super stylish or up-to-date-with-current-fashion about this outfit.  It's just black.   Sometimes when I'm not really sure of what to wear it's really easy for me to grab black.  Why is that?

I wanted to add a little color, and instead of choosing a big necklace, I chose the belt.  Maybe I could've done both.  The shoes I personally love.  They are BCBG, purchased about 6 months ago, and this is the 2nd time I've worn them! That's a direct correlation with the height of the shoes.

And also, I'd like to welcome home my little big twin brothers who have recently returned from their missions!  Daniel served in Taiwan and Stephen in Mexico City.  It's been two years since I've seen them! Welcome Home!

On an opposite note:  I want some white jeans.  You might think that's the worst idea ever, but I want some.  I don't have any, and so often I see them worn so fashionably!  Any suggestions where I might get some?

Hope everyone had a wonderfully fresh day!

Buttoned or Unbuttoned? That is the question.

I don't really know what to say here, other than this was a very comfortable outfit to wear to school.  As much as I love heels, I love comfort even more!  I have even considered getting some Privos to wear at work!  Between class and work today, TT and I grabbed a bite to eat at one of the local favorites in Salt Lake for Mexican food.  The only downfall to eating Mexican -- I always feel like I gained an instant 5lbs. I hate the bloat. That's honesty.

What do you think? Buttoned or unbuttoned?  This was a super-layered outfit, and normally I just wear that silk shirt on its own.  The cold weather has forced the layers out of me.  See that ginormous piece of fabric hanging over the post?  That's my purple coat from H&M.  I wish it was somehow reversible because I love the inside too!
What I'm wearing:
Silk printed shirt: Anthropologie
Cardigan: Anthropologie
Jeans: Seven For All Mankind (first time I've ever worn them with flats...it was tough)
Shoes: Nordstrom Rack - Christmas present from TT. Let's just say I was pleasantly surprised.

I buttoned and unbuttoned my sweater probably five times throughout the day, I couldn't decide which looked better (more flattering).  I think I decided to leave it unbuttoned.  Maybe I should save the shirt for a more dressy outfit?

Thanks for reading Fresh!

Taste the Rainbow

Yep, those are my bare, white, cold legs.  But if you were me, what color of tights could you have paired with the rest of this outfit?  Seriously though!  My only option was a dark red.  I need some colored tights!

TT got me this purse for Christmas!  I just love it.  I love the long strap on it.

The belt was a find! I just got it Saturday for $9.

What I'm wearing:
Coat: H&M
Skirt: Anthropologie
Shirt: Anthropologie
Shoes: Jessica Simpson
Belt: random find

Well, how would you have worn this better?  Would you wear tights? I honestly would have but I didn't have the slightest idea as to color.  I don't own nude tights, am I supposed to?
