randi's married.

One of my best friends, Mrs. Randi Bennion was married on Tuesday!  I felt so lucky to be apart of hers and Tobin's beautiful wedding this last week, and celebrate with showers, bachelorette parties, and so much more in preparation of their big day.  More pictures to come! :) Congrats Reg.

yes to breakfast.

I love food.  We enjoyed breakfast on the patio in the mornings, and everything I tasted was incredible.
my egg white omelet: sharp cheddar, gruyere cheese, grilled ham, and grilled onions.  so delicious.
who knows how to make pancakes slightly crunchy on the outside, but insanely soft on the inside??
 i want that recipe please.
and of course, we love oatmeal.

montage at night (2 of 3)

the view from our room at night.  isn't it beautiful? can you spot the big dipper?

One of my favorite things to do is sit by a large fire and roast marshmallows.  We did this every night at the Montage, and drank housemade hot chocolate and vanilla marshmallows for our s'mores.  Unbelievable.  Not to mention, the view from mine and TT's room was spectacular.
firepit chat. my favorite.

main street times two

friday morning we treated ourselves to some soft serve at the java cow down on main. i just really love ice cream.  later that night we all met up for some italian at cisero's.
to be completely honest, there are only a few eateries i like on main street.  cafe terigo, ice cream at java cow, and obviously rocky mountain chocolate co.  however, our dinner at cisero's did not disappoint. oh wait, i also enjoyed blue iguana this week too.  i just really love trying new places and food tasting.

tt and i both liked our meals.  i had spaghetti with meat sauce, and tt tried the fettucini florentine.  we also had a lot of the appetizers, all of which were very tasty.  i especially enjoyed the artichoke dip.  after dinner,  we had a nice stroll down main street.  the weather right now is ideal.  it definitely feels like fall!

the alpine coaster + montage (1 of 3)

this weekend, we were able to spend some quality time up in deer valley at the montage, down on main street, and in park city on the alpine coaster.  so fun.  the twinners and tt were able to sneak away from their crazy school schedules and join me for some fun on the alpine coaster. the coaster = more fun than the alpine slide.  and you can't fall off the coaster (but your phone can, and it did) like you can on the slide (and i have).  while we waited in line, we played the "pretend game".  this is where someone comes up with a pretend scenario, and someone else has to quickly react to it, and i take a picture of their reaction at that exact moment (pictures above and below from this game).

we all played, and laughed really hard.  it was a good way to pass the time while we waited.
and then we boarded.
the colors are changing.
tt and i rode together so we could reach maximum speed.  and it worked.

lunch time

One of my favorite things about working downtown are all of the fun lunch places I get to try.  Today Katie and Danielle (my super cute coworkers) and I went to ekamai for some Thai food.  This cute and tiny restaurant dishes up some delicious curry and noodle dishes.  We tried egg noodles with broccoli and chicken sprinkled with lime and red pepper flakes.  If you like Thai food and live in the city I recommend ekamai.
Last week I tried Guzzi's with my mom and dad, famous for their burgers.  Between the three of us we tried the Guzzi, Bacon and Bleu Cheese, and the Veggie Burger.  All were delicious, although maybe a little too greasy for our liking.

Where do you like to eat in Salt Lake?  I'm always up for a good food recommendation.

style changes

This picture was taken in London, on Trafalgar Square, year 2008.  I don't know what I was thinking when I put this outfit together.  Isn't it so interesting how personal style evolves?  I'm pretty sure there are even a few outfits I wore last month (last week even!) that I wouldn't be caught wearing again.  Live and learn!

Swiss Days Recap

I love Swiss Days.  It always falls on Labor Day weekend.  The weather is usually starting to transition from summer to fall, school is back in session, and the long weekend comes at the perfect time.  Our family has a place in Midway we love to call our home away from home.  Swiss Days runs from Friday to Saturday, with an incredible amount of activities from start to finish.  There is a 10k on Saturday mornings, which we've run in past years, a parade, traditional Swiss food and a whole lotta other good food, crafts, and usually a really good find or two.
We ran into some cute puppies, an lovely beach cruiser, some real Swiss peeps (I've got some Swiss in me!), beautiful barns, and delicious peach pie.
The pony rides are free at the local grocery store.
Please don't pull grass to feed sheep.
The Swiss flag is everywhere.
The small town of Midway overflows with food, crafts, and people.

I don't know about everyone else, but we love it!

Fall Cooking Class + Cookies

Tonight we kicked off our Fall Cooking Classes with an incredible Italian dish.  We had a fun demonstration and enjoyed some Quadertine Casserole.  This is such a tasty dish, and incredibly healthy!
The recipe includes so many vegetables and fresh herbs (or dried), and when we pulled the finished product out of the oven, it all smelled incredible.
Mixing in the fresh spinach...
This informative table runner came from Naples Italy last year.  What fun decor!
We talked about different types of noodles and fresh herbs vs. dried herbs.  I loved looking at this pasta dictionary.
There you have it, Quadertine.
And as a little cooking class dessert, I thought it appropriate to enjoy these cookies.  Last night we headed over to Maria's aka brilliant cake decorator and she taught us the technique/special frostings for dam and fill sugar cookies.  I loved every minute of our mid-week girls night in.  Thanks Maria for your patience, and thanks Britt for making the cookies!  I can't wait to try this again.  I have a new respect for cookie and cake decorators.
Everyone attending cooking class this fall received a welcome to class basket.  How fun! I can't wait to use everything in it, and learn more about the art of cooking! If anyone would like me to post this recipe or email it to them let me know.  You won't regret making this healthy dish!
